12. Morphe 35O2 Second Nature Eyeshadow Palette
This was the very first palette that I ever bought. It's not intimidating for those who want to ease into more bold looks and the swatches were solid. It's brown/Black girl-friendly; you can use almost every color in this palette. It cost $24.99 and the size is worth the amount you pay for.
11. Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VIII Divine Rose Eyeshadow Palette
This palette was nowhere near cheap. It cost $125.00. Pat McGrath is a luxury makeup brand, so unless you're a pro or do makeup often, I would recommend this. This would however make a great gift for a makeup lover! The eyeshadows are very pigmented and extremely beautiful, especially the triochrome shade! Also, the packing itself is stunning. When you're holding it, it just feels luxurious.
10. ABH Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 1
I owe at least 2 of my favorite eye looks to this palette. It costs $60.00. That may seem a little pricey but it comes with 25 bold shades and a quality mirror. My only complaint would be the packaging. It's about to be a year since I bought this palette and the paint is peeling off, which is annoying.
9. Huda Beauty Dessert Dusk
One of the best parts of Huda Beauty palettes is that they're packaged so beautifully. This palette cost me $65.00 but is currently on sale for $32.00. Given I couldn't/don't use at least 4 of the shades in this palette, I don't think it was worth $65.00 so buy this at a discount if possible.
8. Huda Beauty Naught Nude
I really love Huda Beauty's packaging and the Naughty Nude Palette is in my top 5 prettiest packaged palettes. This would be ranked higher if I used it more often because the eyeshadow is brown/Black girl friendly and looks amazing on my eyes. This palette is extremely versatile! You can create soft, bold, and glam looks. For that reason, I'd say it's worth $67.00. The shimmer and metallics are the standouts of this palette. If you're a novice looking to spoil yourself with a nice, versatile palette, I recommend this.
7. Violet Berry Burst
This palette holds a soft spot in my heart because it's the first "colorful" pallette that actually looked good on me. It looked so cute that I based my junior year homecoming outfit on it. I bought it for $15.00 which isn't terrible, but I didn't find myself using the top row of shades. On the other hand, the pink shimmers in this palette are amongst my favorite pink shimmers in my eyeshadow collection. I wouldn't call this palette brown/Black girl-friendly depending on how dark your skin is, but if you'd like to try it anyway, you won't be breaking the bank.
6. ABH Norvina Collection Mini Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 1
The blue shade in the middle is my favorite color out of all the eyeshadows I own. For the amount of product you get, this palette is pricey; it costs $29.99. Making sure you properly prime and prep your eyes to apply the shadow is a must.
5. Jaclyn Hill Palette
Out of all the palettes I own, this one best matches the price and use I get out of it; It costs $39.00. That price is good considering there are at least 2 shades I wouldn't use. My only problem with Morphe palettes is that the shadows tend to look dusty, but with the browns in this palette, I don't run into this issue. My problem with this specific palette is that it can get messy very quickly.
4. Huda Beauty Mercury In Retrograde
The best thing about Huda Beauty palettes is that you can create light looks and smokey looks with one palette. With winter right around the corner, this is a great palette to have. It cost $67.00, which seems worth it to me because I get a lot of use out of it. Out of all the shades, I don't use 4 of them because they're a bit too light. I could be exaggerating but 40% of my looks include this one palette in some way, shape, or form. This is also my favorite Huda Beauty Palette packaging.
3. Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions "Medium"
When I was in school, this was my go-to palette for when I wanted to create a quick, cute, but subtle eye look for heading out. This palette costs $29.00, which in hindsight, isn't worth it if you're just starting out in makeup. It's not as pigmented as the other Huda Beauty palettes I own, but if you're going for a no-makeup makeup look, this could be perfect for you. The shimmers aren't too bold and bright, but they do show up. For me, how pigmented the eyeshadow looked when applied depended on how well I primed my eyes. The best thing about Nude Obsessions is that it comes in 3 different versions: Nude Light, Nude Medium, and Nude Rich.
2. Juvia's Place The Nubian
This was another one of the first palettes I purchased before I felt confident enough to try bolder and brighter colors. Juvia's Place is a brand that creates makeup with the purpose of it being brown/Black girl-friendly, so that's why I ranked it so high. This is one of my best no-makeup look palettes with one of the best gold shadows I've come across. Juvia's Place has reasonable prices and this palette costs $20.00. If you don't want to pay that much, there's a mini version of this palette at half this price, but the full version is worth it.
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Jackie Aina Palette
This is the brown girl/Black girl-friendly palette because it was designed to be. Before I get into the details of what's inside the palette, the outside is absolutely beautiful. It costs $31.50 and if you're a Black girl just getting into makeup, definitely budget this palette in. The shimmers are beautiful and the mattes are quality and aren't dusty when applied. This palette comes with a brush which is cool, but I don't like it because the fluffier end feels too spikey on my eyes.
2. The Nubian by Juvia's Place
